Order NowThere are two main political parties in the United States, the Republicans and the Democrats. The Republicans being the Conservatives and the Democrats being the Liberals. The Republicans are pro-life. They believe in spending money, limited government, strong national defense, and are afraid of change. Now, the Democrats, which are the liberals, are not afraid of change, want government to be involved, care about how much money is spent, gay marriage, and universal health care. These two main political parties have their differences. Some people may like being either conservative or liberal. Although some people are moderate, but most people strongly believe the opinions of one side. In this research paper, I picked two topics to write about, which are abortion and immigration. One issue I am going to write about is abortion. This issue is part of the topic about healthcare. Abortion is an important issue to discuss. Most Americans will likely get involved in this type of argument. Abortion is the termination of a human during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.
Women are now doing it more often, so the political parties are debating about the issue. As of right now, abortion is legal, so any woman can do it if they choose to. Although, the actions that are taking place are the reason why some people want abortion to be illegal. If either side can prove why their fact is correct than thatâs when the decision will be made. One of the main political groups, which are the conservatives, have their opinion about the topic. Conservatives think that abortion should be illegal. After a heated debate, 82 percent chose to have 3,000 members vote on the change. Conservatives are an open and a liberty party. Lisa Raitt told delegates that, âthe current policy doesnât support choice or debate.â Nargis Kheraj said, âour members of parliament are there to represent us, not their social conscience.â From this statement made, it caused everyone to believe that this case was maybe only going to be open because of the social status. Althia Raj said, âif conservatives introduce this type of policy, she warned, they will only hurt themselves.â She also said that the conservatives âare going to punish woman.â
Kheraj said that women would go back to going for backroom abortion. This is because of the fact that woman would take desperate measures to have abortions and she also said it can happen again. Conservatives want abortion to be illegal because of the fact that woman are just misusing it. Jack Fonseca is even concerned about a growing situation that affects children who survive an abortion. He thinks that in abortion facilities, they are just leaving them to die or get killed (Raj, Maloney). The liberal point of view is that they want to have abortion to still be legal. Their perspective on abortion gives women their right to choose. Elizabeth B. Lippincott found âthe thought of having abortion late in pregnancy troubling.â Some people think that abortion is helpful because some pregnancies are miscarried or the unexpected happened. Most women donât like to say the problem they had, which lead them to want an abortion. Some pregnancies are miscarried naturally, and the fetus is less developed and unable to feel pain or survive outside the womb. Conservatives think that IUDâS are murder, and that they also want to shut down all the abortion clinics. Liberals, on the other hand, think that every life in the womb should be kept, unless the woman decides otherwise.
They also think that âthe choice Democrats make will determine whether the party grows or dwindles because this isnât just about abortion. It is a broader question of acceptance of internal differences and willingness to engage in open dialogueâ (Lippincott). Another issue being talked about in politics is immigration. Immigration is also one of the main big topics everyone talks about and people all over our nation are fighting for every right either to be given or taken away. Most people do not want illegals here in America because of the fact that some are bad, or they do stuff they arenât supposed to. Although, some people are actually doing something for this country and thatâs what some people are actually looking at. Some people, as of today, are still having racist remarks about every person. That is why we have a lot of people doing bad things. Some people still allow some illegals here because of the stuff they do for them.
The conservatives are the group that allows the immigrants here in America. On a show it said that programâs editors attempted to portray Frank Jorge as a changed man. After the show, Jorge stated that âhe remains convinced that illegal immigration is wrong and does more harm to America than good.â Conservatives think that illegal immigration is different from immigration itself. Marcus Hawkins said that, âmost conservatives have no problem with immigrants.â The problem with the illegal immigrants taking jobs is that regular Americans are working, but illegals are working harder for less money that is why most places would rather hire illegals because they are profiting out of it. Some people think that denying anyone emergency medical care is wrong. Liberalâs also think that separation of families is wrong. They donât want cruel punishments like that for anyone. There would be less illegals in the country if they wouldnât have a reason to leave it (Hawkins).
Peter Beinart is a liberal. He said that âliberals publicly questioned immigration in ways that would shock many progressives today.â A left leaning blogger wrote â illegal immigration wreaks havoc economically, socially, and culturally; also makes a mockery of the rule of law; and is disgraceful just on basic fairness grounds alone.â That is what liberals think about immigration. Not everyone is going to like different kinds of people, but thatâs why a lot of people do not get along. A Democratic Senator wrote âthat when they are forced to communicate using a translator to communicate with the guy fixing my car, I feel a certain frustration.â Democratic platform said that, âwe cannot allow people to enter the United States undetected, undocumented, and unchecked.â The liberals also think that people who employ illegals disrespect the rule of the law. They also thought that if Obama was elected that everything concerning immigrants would be doomed. Some people think that immigrants hurt Americans, but only with whom they compete with. Sometimes the Americans have a step ahead because they have a high school diploma. Borjas, a company, has took a profit from cheap labor from the immigrants. They use the money to compensate those Americans who are displaced by it. Those are some reasons liberals donât like illegal immigrants because they take the Americanâs jobs.
There are so many opinions out there about all the issues. Many people just do not speak up. Everyone has their own opinion whether its for something big or small. The two main political groups which are the conservatives and the liberals have some of the brightest opinions involving the issues. I think that some people do have a good opinion and they strongly support it. These issues I researched helped me learn better on the topic that was being talked about. I observed that not all people have a right answer. These topics were interesting to learn more about and they made me visualize a part of each side. I think there is much more information on these two topics that is not being told, so it is important to research and learn more on healthcare and Immigration. There are some new interesting things to learn about these two topics because they are talked and debated about almost every day.
